Employment Type Full Time
Minimum Experience Experienced

We’re looking for an outgoing and enthusiastic community manager who can motivate, inspire, and connect with our global network of freelance designers.

This role approaches community management through a marketing lens. We’re looking for a persuasive storyteller with a keen design eye who’s able to foster community pride, encourage platform participation, and inspire creatives to chase their freelance dreams with campaigns and communications.

You’ll be responsible for defining and executing our community engagement program, crafting community-driven campaigns and content, and owning our creator communications strategy. The ideal candidate should be a strong ideator who’s excited to experiment with new ways to engage our community based on what’s most effective in driving platform participation and brand loyalty.

The right person for this role is...

  • A friendly, authentic, and outgoing person who builds rapport with strangers easily.
  • Bursting with big ideas about how to inspire and motivate our global community using existing channels (emails, webinars, forum threads, etc), as well as experimenting with new spaces.
  • Well-versed in crafting strategic communications and navigating difficult conversations. Positivity, earnestness, and warmth shine through with every word you write.
  • Soft skill savvy. As a community manager, you’ll need to be deeply empathetic, a patient listener, and a key touchpoint who connects our creators with the broader business.
  • A strong collaborator who’s eager to partner up on projects, navigate cross-functional team priorities, and thrives in a fast-changing environment.
  • An independent, adaptable, and data-driven person who thrives in a fast-changing environment.
  • A clear communicator who can speak and write at a native English level.
  • 5+ years experience in Community Management, PR, Communications, Digital Marketing, Online Moderation, and/or Support.

Your responsibilities will be to…

  • Engage our community. Define, own, and evolve our community engagement program based on what’s most effective in driving platform participation and community connection. Activities could include thematic campaigns, professional webinars, meetups, and fun creative challenges.
  • Inspire our community. Foster pride and brand loyalty by showcasing platform success stories and top-notch creative work on a regular basis.
  • Keep our community informed. Be our go-to person to share important platform updates, navigate tricky community discussions, distribute important resources, and make sure our community feels that their voice is heard.
  • Manage our community spaces. Oversee our email marketing channel and designer forum (including managing our forum moderators).
  • Be a community voice. Champion our designers across all areas of the organization.
  • Collaborate with other designer stakeholders. Work cross-functionally with our Learning/Development, Product, Support and broader marketing teams to elevate the designer experience on 99designs.

In your first 3 months, you will...

  • Gain a solid understanding of the 99designs organization, platform, tools, and global community.
  • Take over management of our designer forum.
  • Create and distribute your first designer showcase campaign.
  • Longer-Term: Develop a community engagement calendar aimed at motivating, inspiring and informing our designers about the benefits of being a part of the 99designs community.
