I am not a writer, yet here I am, writing copy for a Copywriter role (oh the irony), I had no idea what makes a great writer until chatting with the wildly talented Copywriter (& Mumma to be) here at 99designs. According to her, a great writer is a great listener, a tonal chameleon, a constructive critic of their own work and has a strong level of curiosity – does this sound like you?

A bit about the role:
As the Copywriter for 99d you will be a leading figure in the Creative Team. You will understand and take ownership of the brand voice and be the evangelist for it across the business. You will inspire and provide expertise to suit a variety of formats across the 99designs platform (website), email, video, media articles, print ads and marketing campaigns.
You will be a writer, editor and ideas machine with a keen eye for detail. It will be your responsibility to drive consistent, on-brand messaging across 99designs as well as developing creative ideas and strategies that support business objectives.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a super creative team full of incredible humans who are pushing the boundaries to produce quality, creative and engaging content that serves a real purpose for the design community, users and the 99ers themselves.
A bit about you:
So apart from encompassing all of the aforementioned traits of a great writer, you also need to be a great leader and team player. You will work with all parts of the business as well as leading a talented junior copywriter, so being a strong communicator and collaborator is going to be really important here.
To thrive in this role you will have experience writing from a number of viewpoints and for different audiences – one day you might have your “trendy, super-helpful barista that takes their craft seriously” hat on and the next it might be the “global citizen who has experienced many different cultures” hat. But regardless which hat you are wearing, being able to think creatively, write strategically, and say a lot in a few words are going to be key for your success here.
There is a lot to like about working at 99designs.
